We are surfeited with such ambiguous masterpieces which with Germany’s desire for peace. ' - The “Leipziemer Volks Zeitung” says in August 1914, Count Hollweg solemnly promised to repair the wrong done to Belgium .Government now rejects the promise doubtless the Government is unwilling to reinstate Belgium’s political independence requiring conquests in the West, as in the East under the veil of hypocracy. Other democratic organs complain of the absence of a clear declaration concerning Belgium, which would remove the obstacle of belief and sincerity of Germany’s peace efforts. ->

A correspondent of “Humanite” in Switzerland, who recently saw the Kaiser in Berlin, says the military clique convinced him that Germany’s situation is now excellent. The Kaiser was recently silent and melancholy, but ho is now noisy again, and talks incessantly. He believes ho will still march on London. The acceptance of the peace pourparlers by Bolshevik brought back his old dreams.

Berlin newspapers startingly announces that Count Roderu has sent a memorandum to the Kaiser, warning him that the condition of the nation renders a further development of the offensive inadvisable. Other influential authorities are trying to ; induce him to check operations.

The “Frankfurt Gazette” reports an unprecedented tumult in Berlin political circles. The pan-Germans are kicking up a tremendous row again, declaring Generals Hindenhurg and jLudendorff threaten to retire.
The “Deutsche Tag es Zeitung” assails Herr Kuhlmann, Count Czernin and Herr Hertling and Count Rodern, Finance Minister.
The “Tages Zeitung” begs the confederated German Princes to intervene energetically to prevent Germany sinking into an abyss which these four men are preparing for her. It added that the King of Bavaria has already approached the Kaiser on the matter.
CZERNIN’S SPEECH

While Count Czernin’s declaration that he had sent a copy of his speech to Mr. Wilson was cheered in the Austrian Tbuse. the announcement was greeted with howls of rage by the German annexationists, Tiie “Deutsches Zeitung” says Count Czernin’s. speeclf raises seriou s .question regarding the* Austrian alliance.
