HOSTILE ARTILLERYING. (Received I’his Day at 11.25. a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 27. General Haig reports hostile artil- | 1 crying in the neighbourood of ourt, southwest-ward of Cambra-i. NO INTERFERENCE. j OTTAWA, Jan. 25. Sir Frederick Smith, speaking at the Montreal Canadian Club said Colonel Repington’s allegation in the London “Times” to the effect that members oi the War Cabinet interferred w ith Marshal Hafg’s plans, were unfounded. Marshal Haig and other generals were given greater freedom in tile conduct of the campaign than ever before in Britain’s history. Members ot the Cabinet had the fullest confidence in Marshal Haig, and his associates.
