A PECULIAR. CAUSE

OKUKu, This Day. A remarkable accident occurred to .). Hcreldt. He was attempting to shoot a sparrow-hawk with a pea-rifle, which failed to explode. He throw the loaded rifle, which killed the bird, but striking a tree, the rifle discharged, lodging tire bullet in Hevcldt’s left arm above the wrist. Although the woxind is painful, no serious result is anticipated, it only necessitating a trip to the doctor to Hokitika, a 200 mile ride.
