BOXING NOTES

WEDNESDAY’S BIG MATCH

(By Hard Hitter.)

Wednesday night will indeed be a red letter one in the history of Hokitika, when the meeting will take place between Denny. Murphy and Barney Ireland for the middle-weight championship. Murphy who is training in Greymouth, looks in even better condition than on his former fight, and is quite confident of retaining bis title, but lie recognises in Ireland a man of stamina and a bard hitter, and admits tht he will have to fight and use all Ids headwork to'come out the winner on Wednesday flight. Barney Ireland arrived in Hokitika on Saturday evening, and is training hard and will enter the ring a greatly improved fighter than on the former occasion, and will now meet Denny on much more even grounds as regards generalship. From what the writer can hear both men have liords of supporters and it looks as if the Opera House is going to be taxed to its utmost capacity . The special bout between the Kinzett brothers Waiuta, will he an exceedingly clover exhibition of boxing, as both have good science and will be made very willing right from the gong. Country visitors and others who cannot got to the Opera House early enough to guarantee themselves a seatshoulcl just drop into Pritchard’s or Lawn’s where seats may bo reserved at

no extra charge. Already the stage is well booked up and we would advise everybody to book their seats which will be guaranteed up till eight o’clock.
