CRISIS IN GERMANY. fAUSTRAMAN & N.Z. CAERE ASSOCIATION] COPENHAGEN January 4. . Messages from Germany indicate that an internal crisis resulted from the rupture of the Brest Litovsk negotiations. The Kaiser hastily summoned a C‘own Council at Belle Vue castle on Wednesday, Hindenbnrg and Ludcndorf participating in the discussion ot peace negotiations. Meanwhile a stormmy meeting took place between von Knlhman and the party leaders which lasted seven hours •. Tito leaders criticised von Kulilman’s policy. Sclieidmann, representing the Socialists and Haase representing the independent Socialists, demanded that the Reichstag meet at the earliest possible moment to enable the people to control the peace negutiations. It is anticipated that to-day’s meeting o fthe Reichstag’s main committee will lead to the summoning of the Reichstag. Germany, expressing the official view is convinced that a compromise can he made with the Bolsheviks and suggests to retention of the present legislatives in occupied provinces, with extenfion to a wider basis where necessary.
