PHILOSOPHY IN A LONDON CELLAR.
i What if my cellar’s spacious gloom 1 lie almost innocent of coal ? The less my store, the more the room For each and every timid soul Who comes when raiders are about, j To shelter in my deep dug-ont. I Since it is patent at a glance j That winter will be soon begun, j And I have mighty little chance Of getting coaled (excuse the pun), Why should I feel at all annoyed At missing wliafc I would avoid ? Or if l get some fuel classed With stones and slates that will not. burn, A scuttleful or two will last. Until the warmer days return, Which will, of course, economise Our strictly limited supplies. 1 So though I know that coalless men Use lan gnage of a heated kind, Or wield a vitriolic pen, ; No difficulty I can find In following the golden rule Of keeping absolutely cool.
