The Defender leaves Wellington tomorrow for Hokitika direct. Mr. Tlios. Or and family insert a notice of thanks in this issue. St. Alary’s Club Euchre and social to-night is a send off to all soldiers on final leave. All men in khaki are cordially invited to be present. A very fine programme is being prepared for the patriotic concert oil Friday evening of which details will be published later. Aliss Arina Caldown is singing “Land ot Hope and Glory,” a bracket ted number “0 Thank Me not” and “Requiem” also “The Three Fishers” and with Aliss Edna Perry th„ duet “Nights of Stars and Nights of 1.0ve,” from the “Tales of Hoffmann.” Alias Perry is contributing “Alorning.” Air. Aloore’s items are specially selected. The above in themselves are sufficient to draw a crowded house.
