LATE LOCALS.
A special meeting of the Hokitika Fire Board was held this afternoon. Present —Messrs .FI. I*. Michel ( Chairman), H. A- Thompson, and J. H. I "Wilson. A letter was leceivcd from i W A. Fleming regretting that the ! state of his health would not permit , of his taking up the duties of station 1 keeper »nd nightwatchman, and thanking the Board for the consideration shown him. Received with regret. .1. Gardyne wrote applying for the position, hut the application was not consul ered- Applications having already •closed. On the motion pf Messrs Thompson and Wilson, Mr. J. R. Milner of Kanieri was appointed to the position.
