AUSTRALIAN'S REFERENDUM.
[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT. J - “NO” VOTE INCREASING. (Received This Day at 1.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 27th. Further soldier votes increase the “No” majority to 8,831. The Ciynifionwealth majority against ir. 184.678.
In the evening sky Venus is seen in resplendent glory, slowly climbing to her maximum brightness. Venus will be brightest on January sth when its magnitude will be 4.4, i.e., it will be about thirteen times as bright, as Sirius, the most brilliant of fixed stars. The brightness will then slowly wane until February lOtli, when it will again increase, but will not during the present year attain the maximum of January sth. Venus sets on January Ist. at 9.45. p.m. Jupiter rises well before sunset and crosses the meridian on January Ist at 9.21 p.m., when it will be in a most suitable position for observation ;it will slowly decline in brightness during the month, Saturn and Mars rise on January Ist at 9.33 p.m. and 11.27. p.m. respectively. |
