Admiralty reports an armed hoarding steamer named Stephens Furness was submarined and sunk in the Irish channel, 101 officers and men being lost. TWO SUBMARINES SUNK. The Chateau Renault’s gunners shelled the submarine and torpedoers joined in the fight, hitting the submarine which sank head foremost. Twenty-two Germans, including the captain, were cued.
