HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
FRIDAY, Dec. 21st, The Council met at 8 p.m. Present: Messrs G. A. Perry (Mayor,) Wood > R. King, J. King, Preston, Stapleton, J Thompson and Parkliill. An apology was made for the absence of Mr. Blank. The minutes wore read and confirmed and outward correspondence approved, j INWARD CORRESPONDENCE, j From District Engineer. Railway De- . partment agreeing to request for peri mission to carry water pipes under 1 railj way line between river and bath. —Ro- | ceived. ! From Hokitika Harbour Board grantI ing permission to erect windmill on the liver frontage.—Received, with thanks. | From Presbyterian Floral Fete Committee asking for use of Cass Square on Jan. 30th, for the annual fete.—Received and agreed to. From Treasurer reporting receipts £228 15s 10d; payments £268 17s Id; debit balance £9B 'lls Bd.—Received. Accounts amunting. to £265 Is lid were passed for payment. It was resolved, that the -Borough offices he closed as usual for. the Christina's holidays. The inspector reported having made a house to house inspection of the water taps. Tie had found the majority of the water taps were in good order In a number of instances he had found faulty tans and the water running to waste and had given a warning to tlie to have the matter remedied. Where there were empty houses ho had turned tlie water off nt the Borough’s connection. —Received. Tt was resolved on rising to adjourn for four weeks. The Mayor extended -to councillors and the Borough staff his hearty goixV wishes fur the festive season. The Council then adournod.
