A DARING ROBBERY
CHRISTCHURCH December 21. A daring robbery was perpetrated in tho heart of the city some time on Wednesday night or early, Thursday morning, tho Colombo street office of Brown’s Highbury Laundry being broken into. Tho office is situated just past the intersection of Gloucester and Colombo streets. A right-of-way runs up behind from Gloucester and it was from this back entrance that the marauders mado their entry. Contrary to the usual custom a considerable amount of money had been left in the till in the office, whereas it is generally locked away in the safe, and it was discovered that the contents of the till had disappeared, though whether any further haul had been made is not yet known. Tho office is chiefly a receiving one and beyond the stock of patrons laundry wrtvk, little is kept there. At present groat reticence is being observed concerning the affair, and practically no details are available.
