At the Police Court- to-Jay, Winifred Carrick a single woman of 27 years, was charged with the wilful murder ol her son Donald Lewis Carrick aged •’« years at Addington on December Bth. Air. Raymond who prosecuted, said the crown alleged that the motive for the crime lay in the state of mind of accused following imprisonment for two years for previously abandoning tlie child. THE EVIDENCE.
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Carrick murder case was continued.
William Hart; Clerk at the Magistrate’s Court ,said the accused called at the office on November 27th. regarding the summons for maintenance, and eventually signed consent to the order, though she seemed unwilling, declaring sho could not afford to pay. Mrs Katherine Green, a member of the hospital Board, said she frequently visited accused -while in /prison foi abandoning her child, and also since her release. Accused had not wanted to pay maintenance, and witness urged her to allow proceedings against the father, hut she refused to give the man’s name .
