LONDON December 18. luquest s on the crew of the fishing trawlers sunk on the 12th. show three German destroyers suddenly appeared at five in the morning at 200 yards distance and sunk the trawlers with- | out warning. They then made off without assisting in the rescue. A British destroyer took off her crew. Four other trawlers nearby were unharmed.

DESTROYER PARTRIDGE SUNK. (Received This Day at 1.20 a.m.) COPENHAGEN' December 18. Survivors of the sunken convoy state the Partridge sank i n ten minutes. The crew continued to serve the guns, until she sank. The merchantmen sunk were the Norwegian Bollsta and King Magnus ,the Danish Maracaibo ,the Swedish Bothnia and Thorleif.

Four German cruiser s with destroyers participated. The Germans offered to rescue the neutrals but the latter refused to enter the German ships. Lieut. Grey, a nephew of Sir. -Edward Grey, ex-Foreign minister, subcommander of the Partridge was wounded and taken prisoner. TWO MERCHANTMEN SUNK. (Received, This Day at 8.50. a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 18. Two neutral merchantmen were sunk about the same time as the trawlers, off the Tyne.
