CASE OF CAPTAIN YEATES.

FINED FOR ILLEGALLY WEARING UNIFORM. The following cable message Rom London appeared in a Sydney paper recently:—“Captain Yeates, a medical officer with the New Zealand Expedition to Samoa, who claims that he did not resign bis commission in that force, has ! returned from Egypt, and has been ari rested in London. The arrest is at the instance of the \\ nr Office. He is charged with illegally wearing a New I Zealand uniform. He is now on bail, * though no date has been fixed tor hearing the charge.” 1 A cable message has been received by the Minister for Defence from the High Commissioner stating that Dr. Yeates had been convicted on the above chaTge by the Court in London, and fined £2l - and £lO 10s costs, in days’ imprisonment.
