THE GIFT PARCELS
Tlii*' Lady Liverpool Committee report as follows on the dispatch of Xmas and Easter parcels to "Westland boys at the front;—■
In September last 326 parcels at a cost of 5s 9]d. each, every parcel containing tea', or cocoa, sugar condensed milk, chocolate, chewing gum, devilled ham tobacco, handkerchief, boot-laces and a wallet, were forwarded. These are expected to reach tho boys in time for Christinas.
In November for Easier gifts 325 parvo.l s at a cost 7s fi'd each were packed each containing J tin sheep’s tongues, tea, sugar, butterscotch. chocolate, condensed milk, tobacco, a towel and a handkerchief.
The parcels are first packed in sealed benzine tins, which nre placed two in a ea'se. Every care was taken in securing and directing the eases and there is every reason to expect that tlie • presents will arrive in perfect' order. These consignments ..give every Westland boy in the firing line a Xmas and Easter gift. ,

The following votes of the thanks in connection with the despatch of the Ea'ster parcels wore carried at a recent meeting:— To Mr. W. Keller for free use of sample room during the fortnight the packing was in progress: D. Buchanan for cakes ; S. I. Preston for. seven doz. linnderchiefs; State Schools of Hokitika Ross, Rimu, Woodstock, and many private people for their great aid in collecting and delivering tins; R. Mackley, R. Haroourt, and J. Smith (Kokatahi) Drs Teichelmann and Fleming, Dowell Bros, Gooch. Powell, Schroder, F. Williams. Seale, Renton, D. Stuart, Malfroy. Falkenbacli, Mrs Difcdrichs and others for benzine tins etc. J. B. .Morgan for very arduous work performed in cutting and preparing the tins for packing; Messrs Fane, Schultz, Gieso. Heinz. Shannon, Brocklehurst, and Michel for assistance with soldering, Mr. Brocklehurst for gift of wire for binding cases, Messrs Stevenson, Fowler, H .Thompson, J. O. Macfar-
lane for assisting with packing, wiring and stencilling cases; Messrs F. Thompson, H. Jacobs and Renton Bros for assistance with free cartage; and to all willing workers assisting with the packing. Special thanks were given to a.r and Mrs Brocklehurst, who are eve*ready to assist where possible, and have done so much since the inception of the Lady Liverpool Committee.
Tho assist-a noe of other workers whose names might be inadvortedlv omitted were also thanked for their kind help.
