DRUIDISM.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Druid’s Lodge was held in the Lodge room on Friday evening, A.D. Bro A. T. Bennett presiding over a good attendance of members. Two new members were initiated into the mysteries of Druid ism. After the usual business of the Lodge, the members adjourned for the installation ceremony which was carried out most impressively by D.P. BroJ, Shaw, assisted by P.D.P. Bro W. Murray of Seddon Lodge and A.D. Bro J. Saunders of Star of the West Lodge. The following officers were installed :—J.P.A. Bro A. T. Bennett; A.D.,Bro* F. Groufsky ; V.A., Bro E. G. Bennett; D.G., Bro A. Covvie; J. 8., Bro R. Morris; Treasurer, P.A. Bro J Lock ; Secretary, P.A. Bro J. Fox; A.D. Bards, P.A. Bro A. A. Andrewes, and R. Davidson. V.A. Bards, P.A. jßro A. E. Stapleton and Bro W. J. Dick. At the conclusion ot the installation ceremony, the members adjourned for refreshments, when the following toast list was gone through:—The King and the Order —Proposed by A.D. Bro F. Groufsky. members joining in singing the National Anthem. Newly installed officers—Proposed by P.D. Bro W. Robinson, responded to by officers Our visitors—Proposed by A.D. Bro F. Groufsky, responded to by D.P. BroJ. Shaw, P.D.P. Bro W. Murray, A.D. Bro J. Saunders. Grand Lodge—Proposed by Bio N. Vvarren ; responded toby P.D.P. Bro W. Murray, who gave an interesting resume of the business done by the Grand Lodge, aud the extra amount of work caused by the war. He mentioned that no less than 1,700 of the members of the Lodge were on. active service. Our Absent Brothers—Proposed by P.A. Bro A. A. Andrewes, who made special reference to the members of the local Lodge, Bros C. Noble, R. McMillan and H. G. Andrews who have already made 1 the supreme sacrifice. The Ladies —Proposed by Bro W. Adams; responded to bj r P.A. Bro A. E. Stapleton. The Hokitika Borough Council— Proposed by A. D. Bro F. Groufsky ; responded to by P.A. Bros A. A. Andrewes and A. E. Stapleton. Songs were rendered by Bro R. Fane and A.D. Bro F. Groufsky. During the evening special mention was made to the financial position of the Lodge which is very gratifying. It was stated that the sum of of the Lodge funds was invested on War Loan certificates and mortgage. After full justice had been done to the good things provided and the the singing of Auld Lang Syne the members adjourned, each one voting it was the most enjoyable function ever held in connection with Lodge Westland.
