BOWLING.

HOKITIKA V. OBEY. The Hokitika Bowling (Hub sent up to Grevmouth oil Saturday a team to play a game for the Ballinger Buckles, held by Hokitika and suffered defeat by 31 points. There were five rinks and a colt’s rink. Only one of the live rinks won its game, while the colts alter a tie with 82 points each on the 81st head got home by two points in a deciding head. The Clray green was in really splendid order, true and fast, when play opened, after a brief welcome was given and cheers had been exchanged. At the tea adjournment there was only one point between the teams, but iminediatly on resuming a heavy rain shower took place lasting a quarter of an hour, and tin'll delaying play for nearly a further half-hour before the water had soaked away. The green then played somewhat slower and many of the players lost their grip of the weight of the green. At. the conclusion of the play, which was not reached till after (5.30 o’clock, brief speeches were made by the respective Presidents, Mr. V. Wilson (Hokitika) and Mr Fletcher (Oreymouth) the former handing over the Buckles, which tile latter presented to Mr. Blackwood, skip of the winning rink. Hearty cheers followed with three special ones for the ladies in recognition of the excellent afternoon tea provided for the players.
