RUSSIA'S CRISIS.
POSITION* IN FINLAND
CRIME RAMPANT
LONDON November 27.
The Daily Chronicle’s Petrograd correspondent states that the situation in Finland is critical. The new Diet with a small antiSocialist majority refused the Socialists’s demand for immediate confirmation of the Bills adopted by the previous Socialist Diet, including the independence Bill which led to the Socialist Diet’s resolutions by the Russian Government in August . Tho Socialists decided to apply force, and declared a general'strike, organised the Red Guard of workmen secured arms from the Russian gaTrison and the fleet, The strike became a revolution.
The middle classes organised the others to support the police.
The Red Guard seized the Government Buildings, and arrested a large numbers of officials ,police and promiment citizens, and under the pretence of search, broke into the house, robbed and murdered throughout the country.
Skirmishe s between the Red and White Guards resulted in many being killed and wounded. After four days the Diet yielded and adopted the Independence Bill, giving the Diet supreme power insead of the Russian authorities.
The Government resigned and the Governor-General left Helsingfors. During the Bolshevik disturbances the assistance Governor-General had previously resigned ,and the garrison and Fleet elected a sailor GovernorGeneral.
A number ofl imprisoned citizens have been released; but the Red Guard continues robbing and murdering
THE MODERATES FEAR. (Received this day at 12.30 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 28th. The “Daily Chronicle’s” HapSranda correspondent states the non-Bolsheviki Socialist Moderates ?>f the Committee of Safety have issued a proclamation_declaring in view of the Allies repudiation - ? the Bolshevik peace it mean* the definite destruction of Russia, which will be forced to pay the Kaiser for the peace grant, whatever territory and money he claims. ALEXIEFF’S MOOD. . (Received this day; at 12.80 a.m.) LONDON, - Nov. 28th. According to the “Nova Yashida,” General Alexieff has summoned Theretelli, Tehernioff, Askenkieff and Admiral Vcrnhovsky to headquarters for the purpose of forming a new Government. Lenin and Trotokv appealed to the Army’s Committees to arrest them, unless they leave headquarters. .
