■At the Supreme Court, John McGovern pleaded guilty to a charge of having iqommit.fldd ;a broach of the MjiKtary Service Act by making a falso declaration.
I McGovern was married on August, j 11th. 1915, and by inadvertence the clergyman who officiated put the date as April lltli. 1915. This apparently placed McGovern in the Second Division, although he was really in the first McGovern handed the certificate to tho Defence authorities, and later on, in learning of the error offered to enlist, but the offer was not accepted. He was anxious to enlist, and had sold property and suffered financial loss. The Chief Justice referred to the Defence Department’s action as a pieco of red tape, and ° n the condition that MdGorePn would again enlist no sentence was imposed .
