Mr. Donald Rail, a well-known vet inary surgeon, was' killed hv a kick from a horse this morning. Deceased served in Egypt, with the veterinary section of the Now Zealand Forces as captain remaining there for about two years. A~SADEXD TIMARU, Nov. 25th. Alfred Beswick, a prosperous orchardist and florist of Waimate, formerly for many years borough overseer of works, Timaru. fame to Timnru, on November 2nd. Tie left his hotel early next morning and disappeared. Yesterday a pocket-hook belonging to him wa s found on the shingle beach about a mile north of Timaru. A search was made, bis body being found among the rocks a little further north. Beswick was an esteemed citizen, and a member of the Waimate Borough Council. His affairs wore all in order, hut he was mentally distressed by domestic troubles. DEATH BY DP OWNING. TIM ABU, Nov. 26th. At the inquest on Alfred Beswick, whose body was f ound among the rocks at Dashing Point yesterday, a verdict of death by drowning-was returned. ' ETRE AT MILLED TON. WfIvSTPOBT November 27. By fire at Millerton this afternoon the store of Baxendale and Clementson the fruit shop of Mrs. Horner and the surgery of the Millerton Medical Association were destroyed. Three adjacent buildings bad a narrow escape. Insurances are noD available.
