The Board met at 7 p:Ui. Present— Messrs ft. Wild 1 (Chairman) K. McGregor. G. M. Chapman, C. J. Nighingale and J. J. Mclntosh. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed and the outward, correspondence approved.
'IV Chairman formally welcomed Mr C. J. Nightingale to the Board’s table anil moved a vote ot’ thanks be recorded to Mr. H. Norman For past services.—Seconded bv 4 Mr. McGregor and carried—Mr Nightingale returned thanks for his welcome.
"With regard to the recent damage done to the South Mall it was moved by Mr. J. J. Mclntosh and seconded by Mr. Chapman that the Marine Department he written to asking that an engineer’s opinion he obtained as to the best means to'prevent further damage. —Carried. INW A 1 ID COB R ESPONDENCE.
From Marine Department a .number of telegrams and letters re filling of appointments on Board. Finally approving of the appointment of G'. 11. Chapman and C. J. Nightingale.— Received. From IT. Norman. Koitcrangi, regretting that he could not accept re-nomi-nation to the Board—Received. From G. H. Chapman accepting renomination on the paid.—-Received.
From Stuart and Chapman accepting Hoard’s offer for use of Board’s pile driving plant.—Received. From. Soldiers Financial Board re rates owing by soldiers. —Received. From F, Turley, Hokitika, offering 10s. per ton for old boiler lying oil Gibson’s Quay reserve.— cepted. The 40ft of tlic south wall which had been attacked by the toredo, carried away on the 7th and washed on the north heacli. I have secured a quantity of the ironwork, but'owing to the wall being at low water mark it is only possible to work at low water. Within the next few days I expect it to wash up and save everything that is of any value. TREASURER’S REPORT. Receipts £269 11s 7d; payments £SB 15s 7d; Bank overdraft £254 3s 4d —Received and accounts passed for pay mont. The Board rose, at 8.15 o’clock.
