Clempriceau made a Ministerial declaration in the Chamber of Deputies that he had accepted the Premiership. There had been mistakes, and also crimes against France, which would call for punishment. The new Government pledgd its word that justice should he done hv the utmost rigor of tho law.
Neither personal considerations nor the sway of political passion shall turn us from our duty. Weakness in us, would he complicaty. Let there he no more pacifist campaigns, treason and German oonspirings instead of war, and nothing but war.
We had paid for our liberties too heavy a price to yield in any direction. Tlie censorship would he maintained in diplomatic and military matters and reports calculated to stir up civil strife.
