FAREWELL TO MR WYVERN WILSON.

Members of the Christchurch Bar assembled in the Courthouse recently to bid farewell to -Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.AL, who has been in the Christchurch district for several months as a relieving Alagistrate, and is about to proceed to the Auckland district. Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., who presided, apologised for the absence of Mr Bishop, S.M., and referred to the good feeling which had existed during Mr Wilson’s term in the district and to the appreciation of .Mr Wilson’s work, i Mr M. Donnelly said that, a s the oldest member of the local Bar, he wished to express to Mr. Wilson the admiration of tins members of the profession at tho manner in which Air Wilson bad carried out Ids duties. There had been the utmost good feeling \nd cordial relationship between Mr Wilson and the members of the Bar. N Mr Donnelly wished Air Wilson success in his new sphere of action. .Mr Donnelly also apologised for the absence of Mr S. G. Raymond, K.C., and several other members of the Bar, who were unable to bo present, and read to Mr Wilson their appreciation of bis good work, as contained in a letter.

Messrs Hunt, Cassidy and Hunter supplemented Mr Donnelly’s remarks, "Mr Hunt and Air Cassmy complimenting Mr Wilson particularly on bis excellent work in the country circuit. ! Air Wilson, in reply, said he valued ihe opinion of the Bar and appreciated the remarks that had been made by the several speakers. Tie realised how difficult it was to win a case' sometimes, and he wn s always ready to sympathise with earnest lawyer-pleaders. , He did not, like time to be wasted at , Court bearings, but bo always gave 1 each side a fair chance to put its ease. He had found that the lawyers of the Canterbury distriet had played' . the game, and he was glad that he had been associated with them, even though it was but for a brief period.
