Italian official.—We repulsed an attack on our advanced positions in Lodro Valley at Lorenzago, of our rearmont’s between Valsugana and Piavo Valley! at Lorenzago, of 'our rearguards which were surrounded but succeeded in pushing through and occupied the village from Susegana to the sea. Our rear guards disengaged from the enemy and crossed the river, blowing up the bridges.

The Italian retreat is becoming more orderly. Some deserters were shot. Many Germans were discovered anionir the retreating refugees, bribing the people to demand peace.
GENERAL WTLSON. (Received This Day at 9.15 a.mri LONDON November 11. General Wilson who represents England on the Allied Council is an Irishman with a reputation for staff work, almost unrivalled. He possesses a genius for strategy and foresight' into coming events. He is one of the chief brains of the Army throughout the war. He was Sir Archibald Murray’s junior at the outbreak of war.
GENERAL DIAZ. Received, this day at 8.45 a.m. LONDON November 11. The oorrect of name of General Cadorna’s successor is General Diaz, a Neapolitan with a distinguished career. He is comparatively unknown outside of military circles. He i s 56 years of age. His ancestors fought in the Napoleonic wars. He fought in tho Abyssinian and Libyan wars, where lie was wounded. He commanded an Army Corps on Isonzo. He possesses volcanic energy.
GALLANT ITALIANS. (Received. This Day at 8.50. a.mri ROME November 11. Ten thousand of certain divisions, cut off from the main body at Monte Fesa and Monte Sansimone, between Tagliamento and "held out heroically till Wednesday, when their artillery and ammunition was exhausted. On Tuesday, after destroying their defensive works, they attempt ed to break the encircling enemy masses at the point of the bayonet, hut the superior numbers overwhelmed them, hut this rearguard action facilitated the main Body’s orderly retreat.
AUSTRIAN REPORT. (Received, This Day at 8.50. a.m.) AMSTERDAM November 11. Viennese papers are giving prominence to the rumour that Austria' will propose a general armistice when t-ha advance into Italy ends. WAR. COMMITTEE. (Received, Thi" h*n.v at 8.50. a.m 1 PARIS, November 11. The “Matin” says the inter-Allied War Committee will be composed of Prime Minister and another Minister and a repesentative of the General Staff of each country. Six members at least, twice monthly will remain fpwrmanidntly sitting wheinevter it is necessary. M. Doumer will be France’s second representative. This committee collaborates with General Foehe, Codorna and Wilson.
