THE FRENCH ATTACKING
LONDO-'S November 8. Wireless German official: Dixmude was subjected to violet mine fire. Our artillery (continued active against the Yser sector and Passchendaele. Artillery fire at Sandau increased to the greatest violence on both sides of the Rhine-Rhone Canal where the French attacked in the afternoon but were thrown back at Ammerscbiveder. Where attacks were renewed in the evening they broke down with heavy losses.

Fighting has developed on the plain along the livenza, the Aus-tro-Germans vigorously advancing despite the destroyed bridges forced the crossing and threw back the enemy westward . The total captured are over 250, 000 prisoners and 2,300 guns.
