Thu annual meeting of the W estland Chamber of Commerce which takes place this evening should command the attention of the public who arc interested in the advancement of the district. . Chambers of Commerce fill ;l useful position in the matters pertaining to the general welfare and prosperity of a district- The constitution of these bodies is always wide enough to cover matters beyond the scope of local concern and even public policy, but also in focussing action which has a certain degree of higher influence when promulgated by the business or commercial corporate section of any community. Chambers are a power for good, and the power increases n.s the membership of the body broadens and includes all sections of a community. During the year'the local Chamber has been in existence it ha's met regularly month by month. Its members have shown a sympathetic interest in regard to all matters for the common good brought forward. The Chamber has shown itself worthy of support by reason of its earnestness in dealing with local and general questions brought before it. The influence of the Chamber i* measured only by the energies of ’is members, and the more its membership is widened the greater will he its services to the community. Because of this, business folk generally should show a personal concern in the welfare of a local institution the existence and utility of which is measured entire lv by the volume of local support and interest in the proceedings of the Cham her.
