THE JUGO SLAVS.
AUCKLAND, Oct. 29. , A representative meeting of the Jugo-slavs of Auckland province was held to-day. It- reaffirmed loyalty to Britain and the Allies, and passed a resolution. “That the meeting requests the Government to remove restrictions upon Jugo-slavs in the matter of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force; that the Government devise means whereby Jugoslavs may join the Serbians at Salonika to fight direct the national foes ; that the Jugoslavs are prepared and willing to devote all their energies to such essentia] industries or other works as the mister of Internal Affairs should direct, hut that work so done he ah the same rate of pay and under similar conditions as pertain to the Expeditionary Force.”
j A resolution was passed, expressing | regret that the. Slavonic residents of the Dominion should he classed in the the same category a s the Central Powers, and strongly urging that the Government and public should investigate their case with a view of removing the ■ existing misunderstanding and having : them made subiect to the same rights and privileges as other Allied resi- ' dents.
