WELLINGTON, Oct. 29
At the Appeal Court., Mr. Gray K.C. opening for defendent for Beard, submitted that until this charge, his client had borne an honourable name (and while admitting he has acquired an interest on Tverehoma’s Land, the Court must find some deliberate fraud on his part to bring him under their jurisdiction. Much of the evidence given wa:s against Chennells and not against Beard. He contended that outside the formal affidavits, those making them wore oitlier interested or seeking to justify own facts. He also pointed out that Kerclioma had not supported the Law Society’s action. He claimed there was nothing to suggest that Beard know Jverehonia was 'improvident. The power of attorney prepared by Beard was necessary as Kerehoma was living in Howke’s Bay.
