BATTLE OF THE ANCRE
MONDAY NIGHT
An nnusually fine opportunity for studying the war at close quarters by proxy is promised the public when the u Battle of the Ancre,” described as: a most remarkable series 'of war pictures, will be exhibited at the Princess Theatre on Monday next, the 29th inst. The spectator is conducted to various parts of the front, including the scenes of hot battle with bombardments in full progress, and infantry attacks going on The intricate details of the Army and its work, the unlimited complications which seem to defy order, is shown, yet all works to the appointed end. The mass of men and material are all vividly pictured. A great variety of war-like implements is shown in use, including the famous “tanks” which perform some of their notable feats m front of the camera. The “ Battle of the Ancre ” consists of pictures taken by authority of the British Government, and the film of a series of these war pictures have been secured by the T.M.C.A. to be exhibited throughout the Dominion iu aid of various Patriotic 'Funds, which includes comforts for our fighting men at the front, returned wounded and convalescent soldiers, men in the trenches and camps, and one quarter of the net proceeds are handed over to the Mayor of each city or|town to be disposed as may be deemed advisable by him to such Red Cross Funds decided on. As a whole the series is of an exceptional merit and is worthy lof the Imperial forces it represents, and as instructive as it is thrilling to the beholders. Owing to the object of the funds being such a worthy one, the entertainment is sure to draw large attendances. It is therefore necessary for intending patrons to secure their seats ivell in advance to avoid disappointment.
