AUCKLAND, This Day. At Auckland the Police Court Henry Scott for betting on Alexandria Park racecourse, was fined £4O. WRIT OF MANDAMUS. Auckland, Oct 25. Justice Stringer, in deciding the application for a writ of mandamus against the Public Service Commissioner by O. E. Bowling, Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court, Auckland, re the appointment of Erenderville as Crown Solicitor, Wellington, over the heads of departmental officers, held that the Commissioner had fairly considered the plaintiffs application, and had not adopted an arbitrary rule. His decision could not be reviewed by the Court. \
