FOUND IN A SUIT CASE.

DEAD BODY OF AN INFANT DUNEDIN, Oct. 18

At an inquest to-day on the body of an infant found in a suit case in a chemist’s shop on Sept. 22nd, in connection with which a single young woman, (Mary Walder, is charged with murder, die evidence showed that the girl, who had been in domestic service ill Dunedin, went homo to Lawrence on Sept. 17th, returning to Dunedin on Sept. 22nd with her mother and' bringing a suit case with her. Ihe uiothoi was unaware ot\ the birth oi the child until her daughter had been visited by a doctor on Sept, 22nd. Medical evidence was given to the effect' that death was due to asphyxia, and that with the exercise” of ordinary care the child would have lived. Tho depositions of an inquest held <ni May 20th, 191(5,' on the body of a child ot the same woman were, put in. A verdict that death was due\to asphyxia was returned.
