SergthjAlajor Browne who left New Zealand with the earliest forces was employed here at the time of tho installation ot the telephone system and the renewal of the telegraph line to the south district. He is well known in the Rimu district, and lias sent forward the trophies won for safe-keeping, intending to return to Westland when diseherged.
