IRISH. CONVENTION
LONDoN, Oct 16
Mr. Redmond gave notice of motion deploring the policy that had been, and was being pursued by the Irish Executive Government and the Irish military authorities at a time when the highest interests of Ireland and tho Empire demand the creation of an atmosphere favourable to - the successful result of the deliberations of the Irish Convention. \ -

Swiss Catholics with pro-German sympathies, convened an international congress at Berne for the 15th to promote a durable peace. Sixty-five Austro-Germans, including Erzberger, three Italians, one Russian, and an unarmed Britisher, arrived to participate, but the failure of the* movement from an international standpoint led to its postponement to the 12th November.

The Press Bureau says the competition for designs of a memorial plaque for the. next of kin of the killed, closes at the end of 1917, to unable members of the forces serving overseas artists and residents in the Dominion to participate.
