The Council read a third time and passed the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Bill unamended. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. THE LIQUOR BILL. The House considered the amendment made by the Legislative Council in the Sale of Liquor Restriction Bill. The Premier indicated those wnti which he proposed to disagree. AN AMENDMENT LOST. Mr. Wilford moved an amendment that Clause 2 be disagreed forthwith in order that date of operation of the Bill be put back from December to June. This ‘was defeated by 50 to 24. FOUR MILLIONS. Sir Joseph Ward moved the second reading of the War Purposes Loan Bill. He stated that'fhS' borrowings of the Dominion since 1914 amounted to over £63,000,000, and in view of the magnitude of these fixtures, the public might accept as a fact that ii this additional four million were not needed, they would not be asked for. The Bill was read a second time on tlie voices, and as a matter ot urgency, wa s put through all stages and passed. The House rose at 11.20 p.m
