Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE.
From 'l'. W. Rruee, resigning position as member of the Board. Received with regret.
From Westland County Council, (notifying appointment of Mr. J. A. Murdoch a s a member of the Board vieeJMr ’j’. W. Bruce, resigned.—Received.? From A. Dinnio, Public Works Department forwarding £37 10s, quaraerlv quota of grant towards upkeep of Otira Hospital.—Received. From Thos. Nolan. Secretary M'atainui Committee, expressing appreciation of committee at appointment ol a district nurse at Waiho, stating the fees fixed were considered reasonable, and asking that in cases where soldiers wives and families received treatment, that specially favourable term s he given.—Received; it was resolved that every consideration be given to in- • dividual cases in the latter instance. From Mrs. E. Pereival, District Nurse, Waiho, notifying arrival and commencement of duties, and asking for particulars of fees to be charged. Received. It was resolved that £3 3s he charged for midwifery cases in addition to 10s per day for treatment. The nurse to be advised accordingly, and the district committee to he also advised on the subject.

' An. application for aid was received and refused, tho Board not being able to grant the request under the special circumstances put forward by the Chairman and Secretary.
From A. B. Spiers, Kumar a, holding Board responsible for motor-ear hire— Received; consideration held over. From A. Williams, cook, Kumarn Hospital, asking for an increase of sal-ary.—-Received; hold over till end of financial year in accordance with previous resolution of the Board. From Dr. Teiehelmann (taken in committee) —Received and curiei deration deferred until the lirst meeting of the now Board. SECRETARY. Mr. Clifton moved that applications be. invited for the position of Secretary to the Board, returnable at next .meeting.—Seconded by Mr. Grimmond and carried. REPORTS From Treasurer, reporting receipts for period wero £849 Os fid; payments £521 11s Id; bank debit balance £1298 2s.—Received. The Chairman reported on aetion taken in connection with an indigent family, former residents of Roof ton district.—ReciVivcd and action taken approved.
From Mat- ron, Totara Committed ondosing accounts £56 11s Id; stating there wore 13 patients at beginning of September, discharged 1; died 1 ; remaining in hospital 11.—Received. From Otira Committee enclosing accounts and suggesting that application lie made to the Minister for tlie use of the Publie Works Department’s motor ear for urgent- oases to enable removal to Westland Hospital.—Received. It was resolved to give effect to the latter suggestion.
From Surgeon Superintendent, Westland Hospital reporting for September, admitted 16 males, 3 females. Total treated, 41 males, 19 females—fiQ. Discharged cured: 10 males, 8 females, died 3 males, 1 female. Total discharged 13 males, *• 9 females—22 In hospital on 30th September: 28 males, 10 females—3B. In hospital for two months: 14 males, fi females 20.—Reveived;
From Master, Kumarn Hospital, reporting during September one patient was removed to 'Westland Hospital, one patient left, one was admitted and 31 patients remaining, and giving particulars *f working of institution. —Received.
From Matron, Otira Hospital reporting qJ out patients worn treated during the month; three males and 1 female wero treated as in patients, 3 being discharged; 1 male remaining on Aug. 31st.—Received. From Finance Committee recommend ing payment of accounts amounting to £972 7s 4d.—Received and adopted.
From House Committee Westland Hospital reporting on a few minor requirements.—Received and approved. The Board rose at 9.15 p.m.
