Tbe Westland 'Land Board sat this afternoon. A full report will appear to-morrow. The Chief Postmaster advises that all cable' messages for' soldiers in Mesopotamia should be addressed to “Basra.” Tho death of Bertha, the nine-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs W. Shore took place at Reofton on Sunday night after a long illness. Thery was fine weather this afternoon for the holding of the School sports. Particulars will bo given tomorrow.

At the meeting of the Westland Land Board Hits afternoon, applications by McNicol & Moore, and West Coast Farmers! Co-operative Lime Producing Coy: Ltd. for limekiln areas at Ross were granted, subject to conditions to he imposed by the Board. There was considerable discussion over the matter, Mr Houliston objecting to Hie grant being made.
