When disdu.ssing the bridging of tin l Mikonui river yesterday, it was pointed out that the sawmilling proposition would tap a very largo area of milling timber, and as the hulk of it was crown lands territory, a very considerable revenue would accrue to the County Council by way of timber royalties. From this sum it is intended to repay to the general account tho expenditure by the Council on tlio cost of the bridge.

Speaking at the. County Council meeting yesterday Mr. G. H. Chapman stated that the material for the bridging of the Mikonui was to be ordered at once from the Greyrnouth Harbour Board, which held a stock of hardwood. The iro n girders for the bridge had been sent to Ross already and the pile-driving plant was now being loaded for the work. Tt was tho intention to push the work ahead rapidly, the workmen being already employed.
