Joseph Butte was awarded £1,200 damages by consent, against the Union S.S. Coy. for injuries caused by an explosion on the AVairuna in Sept 191(1. FOOD PRICES. Received, this day at 8.45 a.m. MELBOURNE, Oct. 13. Mr. Hughes, replying to the Oppbsi|tion’s (charges that Government was the cause of the increased cost of living, stated tho Interstate Commission’s invostigtion revealed thorn was no exploitation in tho price of bread, ns fixed and meat, ws not controlled by any combine of ‘profiteers, either in sup ply of stock or amongst wholesalers and retailers.
