MEDICAL PROTEST.
CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 12. The Canterbury division of the British Medical Association passed the, following resolutions —This division urges the Council of the Association to protsot against such an important measure as the Social Hygiene Bill being hurried through Parliament, before tho people have had time to consider it. This meeting considers the Bill, as drawn up, is pandering to the prurient propensities of the puhlic; also that without compulsory, I confidential notification, the Bill will jbe of no avail. Further, that the Public Health Department and fnedical profession instead of a Lay Board, should have control of tlioso diseases. ■ PAFAKURA HOTEL BURNED. AUCKLAND. This* Day. Papakura Hotel was destroyed by fire this morning. The inmates got out with difficulty. Nothing was saved Wilson’s Blacksmith shop adjoining, was also damaged. The building wn s own ed by Hancock and Coy. and insured for £1250. The stock insurance is unascjertainable.
