An inmate of the prison reformatory Ernest Brastiiig, aged 19 escaped on Friday afternoon, but was recaptured at one on Saturday morning when crossing the Waihopai bridge. He had discarded his prison clothes, and was attired in a purloined overcoat.

Reserved judgment was ['delivered this morning in tho case against Duncan Neven, manager in New Zealand for J. C. Williamson, Ltd., who caused to be inserted in a newspaper, an advertisement of the kinematograph film “Intolerance.” whereby the newspaper becabno sin indecent document. The Magistrate said that the advertisement in his opinion, was inserted to create an impression in the public mind that the film “Intolerance” was blatantly obscene, in the hope of swelling the number of visitors to the show; thus it had a. mischievous and immoral tendency, and tho -newspaper in which the advertisement was inserted became, therefore, an indecent document. Defendant was convicted and fined £5 and costs (£2 9s)- Security for appeal was fixed.
