SHOOTING RED DEER

DUNEDIN, Oct 2

Acting on the suggestion of a member of tin; Otago Acclimatisation Society. in view of the scarcity of leather, it was decided to have six red deer shot and the skins treated commercially as an experiment. The deer will be taken from the llawea iorest.

In reference' to the treating of red deer skins. .Mr. F. Grecnsladc, a local tanner, in a large way of business, suggests that a better plan would bo to treat goatskins, thousands ol which ate procurable.
