16s 3*d. Total £27 Is, which with 9s 3d from the Bank N.Z. Red Cross collection box (per Mr. Rudkin), 15s 6d from Bank of N.S.W. collection box (per Mr. J. R. Ward), and Messrs A. and T. Mcßride (Matninui) £l, making the total receipts for the day, £29 6s lid. The Society also desire to thank Mesda mes Brocklchurst, Benjamin and others for assisting in the depot and witli the concert. Mrs. J. V. Hall, for use of piano and Mrs Palmer for donations of old gold and silver ai tides to he molted down. More of these articles are solicited. Notwithstanding the miserable weather the Opera. House, was filled last evening by an enthusiastic audience to witness the picture programme presented by Mr. Pritchard as a Red Crass benefit. True to promise the pictures were a first class lot, all brightlv screened and wore frequently
vpplaudod by the well pleased aud- ; lonce. Prior to the conclusion of the i last picture Mr. F. Thompson (Superintendent) o nbehalf of St. John s Ambulance Association and British Red Cross Society thanked the audience for their patronage on such a wild night. Mr. Pritehord for giving his night’s programme, the members of the orchestra and of the Hokitika Band for giving ! their services. Mrs Fitzsimmons is also to ho thanked for making a substantial reduction and the operator Air. Jack Barren for giving his services gfteti®.
