Lord Northcliffe in a special interview, emphasised that United States must adopt strong measures to moot the “U” Boats, to protect the United States Army going to France and to guarantee supplies. Tie believes Germany has established a base on the French coast, and is concentrating her efforts to wreck the United States simply system. Lord Northcliffe stressed Sir Joseph Mc'cley’s declaration that the United States must construct six million tons of shipping annually in order to keep up her military efforts, and must create an army of shipbuilders, who are just as essential as soldiers. Lord Northcliffe pointed out that there was no real decrease of the total of A Hied sinkings. He did not contradict Mr. Crasty’s statement cabled on 24th September but instanced the latest of French losses. He added.—“ Nothing has altered my conviction that the Allies combined shipyards and navies must mako a - super-human effort to overcome the growing losses of shipping.
