[PER TRESS ASSOCIATION. COPYRIGHT.] A SAD CASE. DUNEDIN, Sept. 24. A young woman arrived at Dunedin on Saturday morning with her mother on a visit to relatives. She was evidently nob well, and' on the way to her destination, left a suit, case at a shop. On arriving at their destination it was descovered the girl was very ill, and a doctor was called. An examination disclosed the fact that the girl was recently confined. t This led to inquiries by the detectives, resulting in the discovery of the body of a newly born child in the suit ease left at the shop. A post mortem examination was held yesterday, and an inquest will ho opened this afternoon. The girl’s condition was such that her removal to the hospital was necessaay. CUT HIS THROAT. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 24 John O’Brien, aged 55, an inmate of Nazareth House, a benevolent Home, was found dead in bed to-day with his throat cut with a razor. A verdict of suicide while of unsound mind was returned at the inquest.
