Good results are being secured by the new smoke cloud defence system. Smoke boxes thrown overboard make clouds concealing the ships. They liavo been used for some months on the great majority of British ships.”

It is authoritatively stated that tlm problem of building unsinkable ships is practically mastered but naval circles are of the opinion that such ships won’t solve the submarine- menace owing to the difficulties of construction and the small cargo space.
