Word has beon received of the death of Air. Alex Mclntosh an old age pen'sioner residing near Lake Mapourikn, South Westland. The deceased was well advanced in years, and has been crippled with rheumatism for a very long time. A hardy old pensioner he lived the life of a recluse, refusing company or assistance. He was a wellknown figure in South Westland for many years, and for a long time was ferryman at the Waiho river. He was found dead in bed, in view of which an inquest was ordered and was held by one of the local Justices of the Peace.
