The House met at 2.30 p.m. STATE- CONTROL. Air. Payne gave notice, of his intention to -introduce a Bill affirming the-principle-'that the (State should control liquor traffic. ’ SECOND DIVISION. Replying to Air. Wilford, the Premier said if members were not satisfied with the Government proposals for pay, pensions and allowances of the Second Division, when brought down they would he hard to please. Til K POLICE PAID. '.Replying to Air. Webb, the Hon. Herdman said the Seamen’s Union Office was raided because the authorities believed a strike had been called in connection with the mosquito fleet, and it was necessary to. ascertain information regarding th e strike. II the, authorities considered the offices of the Employers Federation should be raided, that should he done without hesitation. THE LIQUOR BILL. The debate on the sale of Liquor Restriction Bill was resumed by .Messrs Poole, Parr, Pearce, Wright, Newman (Rangitikei), Hon. Russell, Wilkinson. ,Sykes, and Ell, who supported six o’clock closing. Hon Herdman, Messrs Jennings, Witty, and Webb supported the Bill which was read a second time on the • voices. The House rose at 11.15. n.m.
