Sir Joseph Ward, replying to Mr. Thomson, said he. would endeavour to arrange some means by which the Treasury would purchase War Loan Bonds from person's who subscribed to the war , and who .subsequently had fallen upon hard times. KAURI GUMThe Premier tabled the report of the Commission on the kauri gum industry. A majority of the speakers in the discussion that followed, congratulated the Government on the appointment ol a commissioner to purchase gum till the market revi rd. thereby saving the industry. Several speakers also advocated the divisor, of Auckland district, as it was too large to he efficiently worked hy J one Laud Board, j Others suggested the appointment j of a Development Board, for the, purpose of bringing the lands in the far north into pr.olit.
