Gruumond .staling instruction.* had been given to have a close boarded, fence erected at South Spit school. —Received. A vote of thanks .was passed for prompt action. From Hoard, conveying report of South Spit school examinations.—Received and considered very satisfactory, a letter of appreciation to be sent to Alias Dixon.

From same in reference to fitting observance of Dominion Day on Monday next: —Received ; receiving attention. From the Rector, reporting roll number was 364 and average attendance 324 ; stating several teachers had been absent during the month ; that school sports would be hold in the school grounds on Monday Sept. 24th (Dominion Day) proceedings commencing at 1.30 p.m., with the saluting of the (log.—Received. It was resolved that the Deputy Mayor ho asked to proclaim a half holiday on Monday. Jt was resolved to thank the Caledonian Society for awarding prizes lor the school sports on Monday.

From same stating by means of sixpence a week suberiptions, the children bad been enabled to take up 116 War Loan certificates. —Received and approved. It was resolved to convey by letter the thanks of the Committee to Air. de Berry for his efforts in raising funds for this and other patriotic: purposes.

From Hokitika Gas Company in reference to meter rents —Received. Accounts amounting to L‘4 5s fid Were passed for payment.

The Visiting Committee .Messrs Ailken and .Slovenon) reported on conditions at the school. —Received, the Chairman reported as to clearing work on grounds authorised. Alessrs Hickson and Bennett were appointed visitors for the month. The Committee then rose.
